My Interests

  • My Introduction To Anime (Blog Post #1)

I remember my introduction to anime like it was yesterday. My older brother and my cousins would gather around the television, and watch Dragon Ball Z on TOONAMI every week. I was deeply intrigued by the flashy fight scenes, and bright colors.

Noir was the first anime that I had fully watched on my own. It had an eerie and haunting vibe that seemed to pull me to the screen. The action scenes were immaculate, and the story telling was well paced.

My most recently completed anime is Death Parade. It’s about a barter(basically a makeshift human that doesn’t operate with human emotion) who is tasked with having to decide whether people live, or they reincarnate. The anime makes points to bring out the darkest side of the people that they test to decipher if they are worthy enough to have another chance at life. The themes shown are revenge, arrogance, dishonesty, and selfishness

  • My Journey With Books(Blog Post #2)

Ever since I was a kid I have always loved to read books. They were my favorite
source of entertainment, and also one of the reasons why I have such a wide
imagination even as an adult. I started off reading books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and Dork Diaries by Rachel Renée Russell

Reading books gave me the creative room to take
the words and then try to visualize them in my head to the best of my abilities,
amplifying the intensity of the book. My father doesn’t fail to remind me that
when I was in the third grade, I would read 300 paged books in just one sitting
    with no breaks.

I’m amazed with myself because I could never do something like
that now, but of course I still enjoy reading. My introduction to YA fantasy novels was a book by the title of Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas. It features the main character Celaena Sardothien and follows her struggle as she claws her way through a battle royale held by the ruthless king.

As of today, One of my favorite books by far is Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. It’s a book based off of African
folklore with more of a fantasy and action twist. Children of Blood and Bone tackles topics like generational trauma, and discrimination. It follows a girl named Zelie Adebola. After her and her people have been stripped of their ancestral magic, it is her duty to set on a journey to strike revenge on their oppressors and restore what is their birthright.

  • My Favorite Music (Blog Post #3)

I indulge in many genres of music such as r&b, alternative, hip hop, kpop, and
many more genres. However I can say without a doubt that r&b is my all time
favorite genre. With the genre being pioneered by Black Americans who sweetly
sang about the bitter struggles that we faced as a people, r&b speaks directly
    to my heart.

Some of my favorite modern day r&b artist are Ari Lennox, Madison Mcferrin, Solange, Amaria, and many many more that would take all day for me to list.

I started my k-pop journey about five years ago, But I was always aware
that the genre had existed. When I was younger I stumbled upon a song called
“Tell Me” by the Wonder Girls and I was immediately captivated by its unique
instrumental and upbeat vibe. I had completely forgotten about the genre for a
few years until I discovered a kpop group called “LOONA”. I became a fan of them due to their intricate lore, diverse discography, and captivating visuals
